Thanks for posting another podcast. I hope that you guys can figure out a way to keep the site interesting during the looong summer/fall/winter break.

Here's an idea:
Fan video posts - Get your video cameras out, put 'em to use. Post anything about the show 'Lost' with YOU in it. (re-enactments, fan fiction, etc).

This is kind of far out, but...

Just talking with some friends about Lost, during the show's downtime, further picking at the flash forward sequence. About how Jack told Kate that when he flies that he literally hopes the plane goes down so he can basically return to the island. Made me think that it's more than just wishful thinking on his part of trying to relive his past experience. What if it's more than that?

It made me think of the 1989 movie "Millennium," with Kris Kristopherson. The premise of that movie, is that people from a post-apocolyptic future actually time travel to a split second of plane disasters, stopping time just before the actual destruction. The time travelers replace the would-be deceased passengers with body doubles, rescuing these people from certain death. And I think the idea was that they were taking these passengers to the future to help re-populate the human race. (I could be wrong on that last part)

Anyways, here's my wild theory that I'd like the authors of this Belo blog to explore, however watching the movie "Mellinium" is required viewing. In that flash forward scene to life after the crash, I don't think it was a flash forward in time. (I know that sounds weird). I have a hunch, that the "island" (people, Jacob, aliens, evil organizations, good organizations or whatever..) actually routinely pull people from crashing planes when it needs to. Which is why Ben and the "others" weren't completely shocked when the plane crashed, it's like they moved in to their "next steps" mode. I mean, they were shocked, but they weren't shocked like, "what the hell, it's a freaking plane," "OMG, I can't believe that, how is this possible--how did a plane get in this joint?!" or even a simple "it's a plane!"

So not only do I think that this is a regular process for the island peeps, but I think there is some "temporal" work going on, especially with the electromagnetic distortion deal. I think the Lostees are all returned to their lives, but before experiencing all the most tragic events of their lives, giving them a chance to change things. Jack's dad is still alive, because possibly he was able to not rat on his dad about the drunken surgery that ruined him and sent him to his eventual death in Australia. But the Lost producers tried to throw us off by Jack talking about his Dad as if he were dead. (this gets tricky) So we, as viewers, were being led to possibly think those Jack-flash forwards were flash backs since he talked about his dad like he was still alive. Then they made it clear, that it was post-crash with the entrance of Kate. But I think they're trying to throw us off a little, and before the show's end will see that Jack's dad is alive. Also, does anyone wonder how/why Kate's not in jail when she meets future Jack at the airport? I think she was also returned in the moment in time that would allow her to NOT blow up her step-father, not only saving her from committing that crime, but subsequently keeping her from getting her childhood friend from being killed, and perhaps that childhood friend is the guy that she's worried about getting back to.

What of some of the others?
Sun - Has the opportunity to NOT borrow the money from her Dad, leaving Jin in the normal non-mafia job. Keeping their marriage normal and not estranged, which means she never gets with the other guy.
Locke - Doesn't give his kidney to his con artist Dad.
Hurly - Doesn't play those numbers in the lottery, and returns to his life and best friend at that chicken shack job
Syed - Perhaps he chooses not become a CIA trained torturer.

You get the picture...

What do any of y'all think?

Ro- I really like this. I have seen that movie and it hadn't even occurred to me that maybe something like this was going on with Lost. Good Thinking!!!

Have you seen the new line of greeting cards by Hallmark? They have lined up several famous quotes from movies and TV including "Lost" as leaders to the punch lines inside them. The one from "Lost" I can remember at this time says, "You're one of the good ones"...

I wonder what other "Lost" lines would be good fodder for a greeting card of any kind. What do you think?
