Freaked out by The Man Behind the Curtain
Locke dead from a gunshot wound? Please, nooooo....we've been through so much with him on a crazy journey from the beginning, and I'm not ready to lose what he brings to the table.
This episode freaked me out. I did not see Ben turning on Locke to that extent coming at all. Here's hoping Locke will be get a reprieve and make it through somehow.
Ben is more ruthless (and nutty) than I had imagined. Killing his own father (sitting right there with him, too, not even doing it from afar) and being in on the mass murder of his little village -- ice cold. Especially if Annie, his childhood bud, was part of the purge (who knows at this point).
Per usual, everything we are told just brings up more questions. (For one, what's up with Richard staying forever young -- do original recipe Islanders not age? The encounter with Jacob -- total put-on by Ben, an insane Ben projecting, some actual manifestation of a real being known as Jacob? What is the real agenda of the people we know as Others, who appear to be putting on a good show about still being Dharma doing their thing?) But I don't care, I am loving the ride and can't believe we are closing in on the end of Lost for the entire year.
And if you are still wondering: Am I crazy, or did some kind of figure show up during the Jacob scene? A figure could be glimpsed in the shadows, it helps to pause the DVR and go really slowly to check it out. Here's a link to my favorite screencaps site, which got the Jacob images up pronto.

I doubt Locke is gonna die...at least not during this season.
The photos in the link provided in Pam's entry look suspiciously like Locke (with hair). Wierd time and space thing going on? or possibly a twin brother?
Perhaps the reason why the "Others" seemed to be expecting Locke, is because his appearance is that of Jacob.
I suspect that Jacob is somehow being held hostage, which would give a reason for the special grey dust that surrounds the cabin where Jacob resides (voodoo magic to keep a superpowered being at bay?).
In the previous episode, we see Richard helping Locke on his path to kill his father. Here we see Ben's daughter helping Locke out by giving him a gun... which tells us that the "Others" don't have their full trust in Ben...they must protect Locke, and help him on his journey.

First of all, I'm not the only one that noticed Roger is the one Hurley found in the van right? Also, the screencaps are making alot of people think that Jacob is Locke. My take on it -It's Ben's dad, look at the nose it's him!Although at first,I admit I thought it was the white headed priest from Desmond's flashback.(i can't think of his name at the moment)
But that is definetly Roger's nose.Maybe the bad twin thing has something to do with it.

anyone notice Ben's eyes turn black? From other episodes his eyes are blue...I've noticed the emphasis on eyes for the past seasons...and in the house/ shack with Jacob they showed an up close and they were definately black!!!

What a trip! Man, I love this show.
I agree that I don't think Locke is going to die. Lost Diary guy on TMZ.com points out(and I agree) that Locke is an indispensible character. His very being is somehow intertwined with the island.
I also agree that the Others don't fully trust Ben. I think Richard and/or Tom and/or someone else will come along behind Ben and rescue Locke. In fact, I'd bet that they were following Ben and Locke the whole time.
My take on the dust around Jacob's casa? Volcanic ash. That's a callback to the teacher's demonstration of the volcano. Now what that has to do with Jacob and why it's around his castle, I don't know.
I also don't think Annie is dead, or we would have seen her lying about with the other dead Dharma-ites.
I'm curious to see how it was that Ben so quickly rose to a position in power with the Hostiles/Others.
Richard seemed to realize immediately that there was something special about Ben when they met in the woods.
The same way the Others seemed to realize that there was something special about Locke. Coincidence? I think not.

Perhaps the reason nobody stopped Locke whipping up on the Russian dude is because they all know he is Jacob on his journey....who would challenge Jacob? Nobody apparently!

I just had an idea pop up in my head. What if Annie was Rousseau? Firstly, it would validate both Ben/R's claims to being Alex's parent. Also, not seeing Annie's body? Maybe Ben warned her (if he had fathered Alex with her, that makes plenty of sense).
Obviously it's a reach, but I wonder if anyone else thinks this has any merit?

If you have the man behind the curtain episode, pause it when locke is in the cabin, you will see a man in the chair that looks like locke

Jacob's profile does resemble Locke's. And it popped into my head that in a prev epi it was mentioned that Locke's mother was crazy and claimed that Locke was the result of an Immaculate Conception. At least I think I saw that somewhere. Hmmm....

Ben as a kid and as an adult wore glasses. But, when he and Locke go to talk with Jacob in the middle of the night he is not wearing glasses. Also, does anyone know the significance of the dog in the picture and the bottles of liquid on the window sill when both first entered the cabin. And in the straight shots of Ben there was a visible ghostly face on the wall just behind him.
